High Fruit
Patrick Balthrop, also known by the stage name High Fruit, is an electronic musician and sound designer. His debut EP, Kumar, received over half a million streams in the first four months of its release, was added to legendary radio station KEXP’s rotation, and was listed as a top 10 release of 2024 by KEXP DJ Abbie Gobeli. In his sophomore EP, Sunshine Superqueen, High Fruit furthers his exploration of vocal morphing skipping across the surface of a blend of melodic techno, deep house, and dance pop structures, reaching number 32 on the Beatport melodic house and techno release charts. In his dynamic live act, he plays his synthesizers, drum machines, and layers vocals live, building polymetric and polyrhythmic grooves without the aid of DJ equipment.
Patrick has earned accolades from the BAFTAs, the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences, and the Game Audio Network Guild for his sound design and audio direction. His sound design work has exhibited at the Smithsonian Museum. His sound design and productions have graced over 70 million units of games published by industry giants such as Take-Two Interactive, Annapurna Interactive, and MTV Games. High Fruit's live audiovisuals and dance floor installations have supported Berghain residents Tama Sumo + Lakuti and Phase Fatale, as well as Jubilee, Lauren Flax, Rrao, Regis, Antenes, Sharlese, Jake Muir and Nark. Patrick owns and operates his own production studio, Interactive Sound + Fury, and is a member of the underground dance music crew Lotion Collective which curates electronic music events in the Pacific Northwest. He lives in beautiful Seattle, WA.

Listed as a Top 10 Release of 2024 according to KEXP DJ Abbie Gobeli
“High Fruit is the alias of Seattle-based electronic producer and sound designer Patrick Balthrop. His debut EP is a buoyant set of kinetic electronic grooves featuring aerobatic, transportive, heavily-treated vocals that bubble and soar atop his pulsating house rhythms. Conceived while bedridden and unable to walk during a flare-up of his Crohn's disease, Kumar is High Fruit’s soundtrack for getting back onto the dancefloor and getting lost in euphoric beats.”
